| Cheers to Summer Raffle!
Our first ever “Cheers to Summer” Raffle! The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, Red Deer Chapter, held it’s first annual “Cheers to Summer” raffle at Westerner Days in Red Deer on July 18th to the 22nd, 2007. The tickets cost 2 dollars each, or were 3 for 5 dollars. The prize package consisted of:
TOTAL VALUE= APPROXIMATELY $2035 When all was said and done, we made $8,487.81. We had $1,525.79 in expenses, bringing the net profit to $6,962.02. Janet and Brad Service from Red Deer won the prize package, a very nice little family, and they were so surprised and happy! They also BBQ a lot, even through winter, so at least the prize went to someone who will use it! Although we didn’t sell all our tickets, I consider this event a success. We pulled everything together in only a month, from beginning to finish. The business community proved very supportive, and all our items were sponsored other than the BBQ cover, which saved us over 1-thousand dollars in expenses. We also managed to educate a few people about schizophrenia, and some people were interested in taking our educational materials home to read about. And the volunteers we had proved themselves to be reliable and up to the task. The key now, is to build on this volunteer base for future fundraising events. |
